For as far back as human memory extends, doomsday prophets and cults have flourished. In each generation predictions are made, new evidence consulted, and forgotten prophesies dusted off and repackaged. As of yet all are wrong.
There is, however, one cult who is accurate in their prediction of where the world stands in the cosmic timeline, but they have not set out to predict the End of the world, merely the Middle.
Popular Tarot decks portray the card The Lovers in a variety of ways, but this archetype is of course much more profound then people realize. Time is nothing, this cult says, but the Lovers long search for each other.
Before The Fall, there was of course no linear time. The Garden was endless and the Lovers lived in harmony as One Who Is Two. But The Fall was a traumatic calamity, a rip in Space/Time that ignited what we now know as Time. In that rip the Man and Woman were parted, crying out and weeping for each other as they were thrust apart..
When the cataclysm had settled, the Woman was planted in the Beginning, the First Woman, and the Man was planted at the End, the Last Man. Sadly, almost immobile with loss, they each picked themselves up and began the unfathomably long journey towards each other, through time, to the absolute Middle where they could finally meet again.
There they could be together for however many years it lasted, until at last they were doomed to part once more, the Man heading to the Beginning and the Woman to the End. There are those who say this is in fact happening now. The Man and Woman are together as we speak, in some old apartment in one of several cities, laying together in the night, and listening to Mocha Lab.
